FAQs

  • At Rhode Island Pelvic Wellness, we’ve chosen a fee-for-service model, allowing us to provide a more personalized, patient-centered approach to care. By staying out-of-network with insurance plans, you pay upfront after each session, and upon request, we’ll provide you with a superbill (detailed medical receipt) for potential reimbursement. This approach ensures your care isn't limited by insurance restrictions on session frequency or content. Moreover, we've found that some in-network physical therapy sessions can cost up to $300-500 per session, depending on insurance plan, making our model not only more convenient but potentially more affordable as well. We have a step-by-step guide that we can email you to help determine your out-of-network reimbursement rate. Contact us today with any questions!

With this model, we can offer prompt appointments, often within 1-2 weeks upon initial contact, rather than the usual ~5-8 month wait time for in-network providers. Our extended, 50-60-minute sessions provide focused, one-on-one care with a Doctor of Physical Therapy in a serene, private setting, rather than in a busy gym environment. We gladly accept FSA/HSA payments if you have those benefits through your employer.

Please note RIPW will not communicate with your insurance company and does not determine the reimbursement rates, this is something that is dictated by your insurance company.

We are unable to accept Medicare patients at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience.

  • As healthcare providers, we are able to accept this form of payment.

  • No. In the state of Rhode Island, Doctors of Physical Therapy have direct access and do not require a referral. After meeting you, at our own discretion we may request a referral on an individual basis.

For clients that are pregnant and expecting internal pelvic floor work, we do request a note from your OB/midwife specifically stating that we are able to do internal work. This does not need to be obtained prior to your first visit but we will not complete an internal pelvic floor muscle assessment until we have written permission.

  • We understand that not every diagnosis we treat may be listed on our website. If you are questioning whether we are a good fit for you please feel free to contact us directly through our website or schedule a free 15 minute consultation call.

  • While nothing is required, we will discuss your current symptoms in depth at your first visit so you may find it helpful to list your current symptoms and main concerns. If you are taking any medications please bring a list with you.

You can expect to learn a lot throughout our time together, if there are any specific questions you would like answered and information you are hoping to understand it may also be helpful to come with these questions written down.

Prior to your initial appointment, we kindly ask that you complete your intake paperwork 48 hours in advance with as much information as you're comfortable providing.

  • Each visit will be between 50 and 60 minutes.

  • You are welcome to wear whatever you would like to your appointment although we encourage comfortable clothing that you are able to move easily in. If you are coming directly from a prior obligation feel free to bring extra clothes and use or facility to change into something more comfortable.

  • We are experienced in treating clients of all ages but our expertise really focuses on those ages 15+. If a client is under the age of 18 we will request a consent to treat form signed by a parent/guardian.

  • We would never want lack of child care to be a barrier in seeking the care you need. Mothers are welcome to nurse during treatment if needed and there is often benefit to assessing body mechanics during nursing and when caring for your children. While assessing the way you position yourself and move through interactions with your children may be beneficial, there is also benefit to attending appointments without children present as we are usually able to accomplish more during our session and provide a more relaxing environment to facilitate healing.

  • We are two providers who try to be as flexible as we can be to accommodate our clients. We understand that life can be unpredictable and things come up. With that being said, please call or email us directly ASAP if you need to cancel.

Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be subject to a $100 late-cancellation fee

Failure to show up to a scheduled appointment without contacting us will result in a full service charge

If you are going to be late to an appointment please call to notify your provider. We do not charge reduced rates for shorter sessions on behalf of clients arriving late.
